He's a lot cheaper than the last one, but he sure enjoys his job. Now only if he could figure out where this pipe is supposed to go.

The Steel Stairs
The most elaborate part of the house went in this past week. It is a steel stair structure that will support a floating platform above the foyer. It allows light from the upper window in the foyer to flow down to the entry and living room creating a very well lit space. The steel has been roughed in and will have temporary treads and a platform until more of the finish work is completed in the house. I am hoping the the stairs will be in use soon so Lesley and Noah can actually see the top floor. Until now I've had to go up a 25' ladder to access the top level. We hope to have inspections completed in the next 10 days so we can push forward with insulation, drywall, and flooring. Its coming along and looking even better than we hoped. We feel very blessed.
Light at the End of the Structural Tunnel
Our six plus week battle with structural issues looks to nearly be finished. We've had a moment frame installed at the back of the house, a steel beam inserted in the floor below the fireplace, and some random steel support poles placed throughout the house to ensure its structural integrity. Apparently the design was a bit too open and needed some modification. Fortunately, we did not have to change much of the home's design in any way but it did add to the budget - booo.
